To my brothers and sisters in Christ undergoing persecution,
I want to say first and foremost, I have no clue what you are going through and my heart breaks at the news of the evil you are both enduring and fleeing.I shutter at the very thought of what you must be going through, but also find myself in awe of your dedication and steadfastness in your faith. I hear on the news of the atrocities my brothers and sisters are facing and I find myself weeping on my knees praying and crying out to God.
“Lord, help my unbelief. If I was in their shoes I would be so quick to renounce you and beg for my life. But, God that is my flesh talking, for Your Word says in Matthew 16:25 , ‘For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.’ God, thank you for my brothers and sisters who are fearlessly proclaiming your truths in areas of the world that do not believe and in some areas, hate You. God, help continue to give them the strength they need to stand tall in Your name and pour your grace and protection over them. God you can do ANYTHING, and I come praying that, if it be your will, you might stop the atrocities going on in Iraq and other parts of the world where your children are being persecuted. If this is not your will, I pray that you would remind your children that you are with them and that they can find peace in You while they endure or flee persecution. God, I pray for those involved with the ISIS, I pray that you would reveal their evil ways to them and that they would repent and turn from their ways. You did it when you changed Saul into Paul that fateful day and you can do it again. God, help us all to remember that you are just and you store up your wrath and so vengeance is yours Lord. Lord, I pray that you would wrap your loving arms around my brothers and sisters undergoing persecution, especially those in Iraq right now. I pray that you would pour upon them your peace that surpasses all understanding and that they would know that they are never ever ever alone. Might they take heart in the words of Joshua 1:9 which says, ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ God, it is in your precious name we pray, and it is in YOU we find our solace. Amen.”
In the spirit of Hebrew 13:3 which says, “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.” I wanted to write this letter/prayer to you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, to hopefully encourage you that you are not alone because God is always with you. and as your sister in Christ and being of one body, I too am with you in spirit. I love you and I am praying not only your physical safety, but your emotional and spiritual safety as well. Never forget that God is with you and that He is a good and just God.
