This is me every time I read stories about parents who are so dumb that when their child falls and busts his or her head open they decide their time would be better spent Googling “head concussions” or “child fell and hit his head and has been throwing up, what do I do?” As if those weren’t head scratching and upsetting enough there are stories like THIS that make you question why they ever had a child in the first place. There are so many people out there who are just dying for the opportunity to love and cherish and care for these precious babies and even children so why keep your children if you do not see the value in them ?!? It just tears me up inside when I read these heart wrenching and preventable stories. Had the boyfriend taken little Colton to the ER like he had originally planned he might have lived. I just don’t understand, and I never will understand how a mother’s first instinct could be anything other than rushing your baby boy or girl to the hospital after a seizure or fall/hit to the head.
This post was originally going to just be a rant but as I am writing this I am being reminded that this is the World we live in, this is life after The Fall. We live in such a state of depravity and outside of Christ we are so lost. I want to post just a few verses that talk about our depravity.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick;
who can understand it? ‘I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.’”
1 John 5:19-21
“We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.”
1 John 2:15-17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”
“And he said, ‘What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.’”
Knowing that this is all a result of the Fall of mankind and that this is the time and the world we live in does not lessen the severity of their actions, nor does it make me feel better about hearing such accounts, however it does give me hope and I cling to the promises of restoration and redemption that will come when the Lord returns, or He takes me home, whichever comes first.
Through it all God is good and I can truly praise the Lord and I can have peace in knowing that the Lord has wrath for these people who did this to that poor innocent boy and peace knowing that this boy has been welcomed into the arms of my Savior.
