A Biblical Look Into The 7 Deadly Sins: Wrath

Moving on to the deadly sin of wrath. When I think of the word wrath I just think of anger on steroids (just some random info for you guys). I love this picture because it reminds me that these sins, all sin, is in us from birth. Even children can possess wrath and anger, because we are a fallen race, and all in need of redemption.

Anyways, I will define wrath as found on Google (first one when you type in “define wrath”). Wrath is: Extreme anger (chiefly used for humorous or rhetorical effect).

Is it really hard to understand how extreme anger could be a sin, and a deadly one at that?!? Again, it is a issue of the heart, and this is a hard one for me especially as I can sometimes be just a downright angry person. Many times when I sit and I think about it and analyze myself I find myself baffled by my reactions to things and the amount of anger and rage that comes from within me. I wonder where does this come from? WHY am I so angry? I know it is a heart problem, but I don’t know what is going on in my heart that brings about such an attitude. At any rate, this attitude, and my occasional and sometimes all too frequent fits of rage or anger ALWAYS get me into trouble and of course make me out to be the fool, and more times than not it is because I am the fool. Anyways, I think I will just jump right on into what the Lord has to say about this one in His Word, y’all don’t want to hear about me and my ramblings! Ha Ha.

Ephesians 4:26-27

“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”

Proverbs 16:27

“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”

Proverbs 29:11

“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”

Colossians 3:8

“But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.”

Psalms 37:8-9

” Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.”

James 4:1-2

“What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.”

  1. And when one asks one does not get, why? because one asks amiss, wanting to get their own way from their view, and not from God’s love and Mercy that is given to not only me, or you, but to all.
Think on this wise, Born again in Spirit and truth, having a new Heart given to us, where sin does not exist and can’t exist since all sin is condemned to unredeemed flesh (Romans 8:3) We as being born again are dead to the Spirit of error in high places that controls ones flesh. Are born in Spirit and truth new, that is so easily forgotten.
So tell me sister if Anger is non existent to your thoughts, can you be angry?
And if you are angry are you in danger of sinning?
So ask God to remove all thoughts are disobedient to God, and walk by Faith alone where self is no longer in the way to easily beset you when you have the thoughts of I can’t, we do what we do not want to do as explained in Romans 7 to us from Paul
Praying God reveals this truth to you top be free as is what Christ came to do for us all
    Thank you
