Sure…at this exact moment I probably look a lot like this lady in the picture because lets face it moving is a BEAST. Boxes have commandeered our kitchen. Where there was once a nice pathway from the entryway to the kitchen are now boxes piled from the floor to the ceiling, well not all the way to the ceiling but you get the point. Right now there is the stress of putting our life into boxes but the real payoff and the thing that gets me through all of the packing and craziness is the new home we will be living at in less than 3 weeks! I have only had to move twice in my life and i’m not really sure if the first time really counts because it was from my parents house into my first apartment with my husband. With the exception of a couple of pieces my parents graciously gave us moving basically consisted of myself and my clothes. Then after two years in our first apartment together we made our first move together to where we are now and 2 years later it’s now that time again but this time it feels different, this time feels more…special I guess? I think part of me is excited to finally have place that has little features that I have basically always wanted like hardwood floors and ceiling fans and a fenced in back yard and part of me is just excited for the possibilities of unpacking in a more organized way and in a way that will serve us better for hosting. Romans 12:13 says, “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” I am so excited to have a fresh start to unpack and put things in their place and keep things up instead of allowing things to get out of hand and having to play catch up (like the 500 mounds of laundry I JUST finished before we found out we got the new place)! I have been dreaming of how the new place will look once we move in and how we should decorate but the thing I am most excited about is really being able to have a place where we can have company over and feel proud and not worry about how the place looks. I actually feel like God threw the doors open for this opportunity and I would like to believe He did so that we could use this new space to be hospitable and honor Him through our hospitality to others. Luke 14:12-14 say, “He said also to the man who had invited him, ‘When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.’” The Lord talks about hospitality in the Bible and He calls us to be hospitable and make the most out of everything so that He might have all the glory and up until now I feel like we have failed Him in that area of our lives and I am looking forward to making a change and taking steps to be more hospitable to those around us. The Lord has been so good to us and has given us so much and I want to glorify Him and honor Him with all that He gives us, including our home.
